Summary  (from Rotten Tomatoes):

In her much-anticipated foray into the horror-thriller genre, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Taylor Schilling stars in THE PRODIGY as Sarah, a mother whose young son Miles’ disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him. Fearing for her family’s safety, Sarah must choose between her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles and a desperate need to investigate what — or who — is causing his dark turn. She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride; one where the line between perception and reality becomes frighteningly blurry.

Review by Me

When I first saw the trailer for The Prodigy, I said I would see it but looking at the trailers I was assuming that the movie would be about a boy being possess by the devil or something similar to The Omen;  Well this definitely wasn’t the case, yeah there was something wrong with the son, but there was no devil possession nor were there any exorcism involved. This movie was better than I thought, I really liked the plot of the film, it was different to me. When the movie first comes on, the first couple of scenes you kind of don’t know what to expect as far why is this the first scene in the movie after some patience you see why later in the film. The pace of this movie is okay, its not moving too slow, but of course after seeing the trailer you expect to get to the son doing bad things and being scared. What I did like about this movie is how I said earlier going into the theaters thinking you know how the movie will be, but turns out to be the opposite, which I liked; Also another thing was the acting especially among the wife, husband, and the son, you see that they love him, but at the same time they are creeeped out and scared, which is understanding. The Prodigy is not a super scary film, but there were some scenes that made me to jump lol. And for the horror fans  you probably recognize that the actor playing Miles also played Georgie in 2017’s IT . I did have some questions after the movie ended, like what made the serial killer become one, why did he choose that certain MO; And also why did this particular thing happen to this family, is there a reason, and lastly the ending, its not bad, but of course you want this nightmare to end for this family ! After watching The Prodigy I think its a decent horror film, it definitely surprised me with the plot, which is a good thing, and it was kind of a refreshing movie to see. If you are into horror films or maybe suspense, and you are curious about this movie, I recommend you seeing The Prodigy and let me know what you think below in the comments. Thanks for reading !
