From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
Review By Me
Hi everyone, I have a confession, I have never seen Dumbo until last week, like a few days before I saw the remake — and I liked it, even though it is a sad movie. Now 78 years later we get to watch a reimagining, a remake, a live-action adaptation of this film, directed by none other than one of my favorite directors, Tim Burton. I love Tim Burton, he is a great filmmaker who is known for his quirky, whimsical, eccentric characters and movies. So when I heard that he was directing this remake, I knew I had to go see it in the theater. As you guys may know Dumbo is one of four remakes that Disney will release this year, along with Aladdin, The Lion King, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil ( Disney is serving up the remakes),,Are you guy excited ? ..Alright as usual this movie review will be spoiler free. Tim Burton’s reimaging of this classic film is visually stunning, which is no surprise, with Tim Burton you get colorful, beautiful, whimsical visuals that also has dark undertones, which I love, and its definitely his signature. And let’s not forget about Dumbo, he looks so cute in this film, with those big blue eyes, again those visuals and the CGI were amazing. The cast gave great performances bringing their touch to the film; The one actor I want to highlight is Nico Parker, as the daughter with a curiosity and love for science; and if she looks familiar , she’s the daughter of English actress Thandie Newton ( those two are definitely twins); You may have seen in the trailers this movie more so focuses on a family within a circus and there relationship with Dumbo and keeping the circus running; While this movie stays pretty true to the original, there are some new elements added to the story; I did read somewhere that compared to the original it lacked heart and I would have to agree with that: the original is a sad movie, with hopeful moments; While the remake to me is a cute film that does lack heart, but its still a decent movie. Overall Tim Burton’s Dumbo is a visually stunning film with great actors, and a unique spin on the 1941’s classic film with a twist; I do recommend this film if you enjoy Disney movies or if you are a fan of Tim Burton ! Will you go see Dumbo in theaters ? Or if you have, what do you think of it ? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading !
