Movie Review

When I saw the trailer for 21 Bridges, I knew the movie would be good; I got goosebumps after watching the trailer, a sure sign that the movie will be a good one. Now before I hop into my review, I was pretty shocked that 21 Bridges received low ratings/reviews.  However, these ratings did not stop me from seeing the movie. I was also excited when I found out that The Russo Brothers produced this film, this dynamic duo directed quite a few of MCU movies, which too were amazing. The acting in this movie is great. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Sienna Miller, Keith David, and J.K. Simmons who played the detectives, and Stephan James and Taylor Kitsch played the roles of the two criminals who shot and killed several cops in the midst of a drug heist gone wrong, which then began the chase of the two, and the shutting down of all the bridges in Manhattan, hence the movie title, 21 Bridges. Chadwick Boseman gave a great lead performance in the movie , and so did the other actors, all giving gritty performances. I also love how they were able to pull off a New York accent too. The action in the movie started maybe about 40 minutes into the film, and once it began, it didn’t stop. The exciting part of the movie was the whole police chase of the detectives trying to catch the two who killed the police officers. You think are they gonna get caught ? How is it gonna end, and a few other questions that may pop in your head. At 1 hr. and 39 mins. you get a good, satisfying police thriller that involves an exciting cat and mouse game involving the capture and arrest of two young men, who murdered several cops. There were several thoughts talked about in the movie that alluded that some type of conspiracy and “foul play” is involved, which is even more intriguing. I did wish that the movie ended in what happened after the arrests and discovering of the confirmed suspicions by Chadwick Boseman character, and how were the those involved charged and punished. 21 Bridges is an action-packed, suspenseful, entertaining, movie that I really enjoyed watching. The acting was great and there’s a plot twist, which I loved. After watching this movie I was not disappointed. If you are into action movies or police thrillers than you should watch 21 Bridges. I was in suspense while watching the movie, and definitely recommend you to go see this movie. Are you planning to watch 21 Bridges ? Or have you seen the movie? If so, what did you think about it ? Review By Me

I enjoy watching disaster and monster movies such as Jaws, Sharknado, and Lake Placid, which are also a few movies that Crawl reminded me of. I haven’t heard about this movie until I’ve seen the trailers when I would go to the movie theater watching other films. This movie review will not be long as this film is a simple, and short film. At 87 mins. the pace of this movie was just right. The movie has a simple plot, but it had you on your toes. The actors in this film did a great job, you were rooting for them to outsmart those alligators and to survive during the hurricane. This movie took place in Florida during a Category 5 storm, and I loved it. Of course you were scared and nervous for the characters, but it kept you on edge. I did not lose my interest and my eyes were glued on every scene; Crawl is just a well paced movie ! The action in this movie was nice and solid, especially those scenes involving those gators, which were sometimes pretty brutal during the attack scenes. This movie has the thrills and suspense, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time watching this film, which was a pretty awesome feeling. You gotta love simple stories that are told well, because this is a great example of that. Overall I really enjoyed watching Crawl; It is a simple, horror, and edge of your seat suspense movie and to me one of the summer’s best movies of the year ! I hope you guys check this film out; Even though my review may not be extensive, sometimes short and sweet is a good thing lol ! I recommend you all to go see Crawl in theaters, and if you’ve seen it, let me know what you think in the comments below.

MA (Movie Review)

MA 5

Release Date: May 31, 2019

Genre: Horror, Mystery & Suspense

Cast: Octavia Spencer, Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Diana Silvers

Summary (from Rotten Tomatoes):

Oscar (R) winner Octavia Spencer stars as Sue Ann, a loner who keeps to herself in her quiet Ohio town. One day, she is asked by Maggie, a new teenager in town (Diana Silvers, Glass), to buy some booze for her and her friends, and Sue Ann sees the chance to make some unsuspecting, if younger, friends of her own. She offers the kids the chance to avoid drinking and driving by hanging out in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober. Don’t curse. Never go upstairs. And call her “Ma.” But as Ma’s hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma’s place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on earth.

Review By Me

After seeing the trailer for MA, I knew I had to see it; The genre is a favorite of mine, and I was excited for this movie to come out. While the younger cast is made up of new and upcoming actors, the adults/parents are played by well-known actors; Octavia Spencer, Juliette Lewis, and Luke Evans to name a few, all of whom were great by the way. Without revealing too many details, Octavia Spencer’s character is basically a middle aged woman who bought liquor for a group of teens and ends up partying with the them, which all acts as a revenge motive rooting all the way back to an incident that happened back in high school that caused her humiliation. And let’s just say that incident stuck with her. Octavia’s performance throughout the movie was disturbing, but in a good way, because she did a great job portraying this character. I think casting her in this role was a good decision because when I think of this character, I think she was cast perfectly. Juliette Lewis and Luke Evans were also good portraying concerned parents to the teenagers parting it up with Ma. When you’re watching the movie you see that connection with the leading characters which goes back to high school as noted above. As seen in the trailers this movie is pretty intense; Seeing Octavia playing this type of role is fun, and in 100 minutes you get a satisfying thriller. This isn’t the best movie of all time, but its not the worst one either, but it makes you think be careful how you treat people because it can come back to haunt you —  I would definitely recommend this film; I enjoyed it. Have you seen Ma ? What did you think, or if you haven’t seen it, will you ? Let me know in the comments below ! Thanks for reading !

Review by Me

When I first saw the trailer for The Prodigy, I said I would see it but looking at the trailers I was assuming that the movie would be about a boy being possess by the devil or something similar to The Omen;  Well this definitely wasn’t the case, yeah there was something wrong with the son, but there was no devil possession nor were there any exorcism involved. This movie was better than I thought, I really liked the plot of the film, it was different to me. When the movie first comes on, the first couple of scenes you kind of don’t know what to expect as far why is this the first scene in the movie after some patience you see why later in the film. The pace of this movie is okay, its not moving too slow, but of course after seeing the trailer you expect to get to the son doing bad things and being scared. What I did like about this movie is how I said earlier going into the theaters thinking you know how the movie will be, but turns out to be the opposite, which I liked; Also another thing was the acting especially among the wife, husband, and the son, you see that they love him, but at the same time they are creeeped out and scared, which is understanding. The Prodigy is not a super scary film, but there were some scenes that made me to jump lol. And for the horror fans  you probably recognize that the actor playing Miles also played Georgie in 2017’s IT . I did have some questions after the movie ended, like what made the serial killer become one, why did he choose that certain MO; And also why did this particular thing happen to this family, is there a reason, and lastly the ending, its not bad, but of course you want this nightmare to end for this family ! After watching The Prodigy I think its a decent horror film, it definitely surprised me with the plot, which is a good thing, and it was kind of a refreshing movie to see. If you are into horror films or maybe suspense, and you are curious about this movie, I recommend you seeing The Prodigy and let me know what you think below in the comments !

Glass (Movie Review)

Glass 1

Release Date: January 18, 2019

Genre: Drama, Mystery & Suspense

Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, Sarah Paulson
Summary (from Rotten Tomatoes):

From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Review by Me

Glass is a suspense drama directed by M Night. Shyamalan, for those that are not familiar with his work he directed The Happening, The Sixth Sense, and of course Unbreakable and Split, just to name a few. Now Glass is the third film in what is called the Eastrail 177 Trilogy; which refers to the Eastrail 177 train accident that occurred in Unbreakable, which Glass also explains the connection with the characters of the three films. Before I get to my review on Glass, I wanna say it’s amazing how M. Night Shyamalan incorporates the idea of comic books throughout the three films, where you have the superhero, the villain, and the mastermind. Now you don’t necessarily have to see Unbreakable before watching Split or Glass, but there are references in the film that are from Unbreakable that you would probably miss if you haven’t seen it. When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I knew I had to see it, I enjoyed both Unbreakable and Split ,but of the three films, Glass is my favorite ! All the actors in this film were great, but I do have to highlight James McAvoy’s performance- he portrayed all his displayed personalities so well, and seeing him on the screen in this role was one of my favorite parts of the film; Plus I’m excited that we were able to see more of his personalities that were not shown in Split. Now while this movie and the two previous movies are not based on comic books themselves and by that I mean there hasn’t been a comic book specifically written about these characters or movies, and with society’s fascination with superheroes, and villains, this film and the previous two are sure to peak the interest of those who are into comics. Glass met my expectations; I was engaged and excited. The scenes I most enjoyed were the action scenes between The Beast and David Dunn , the villain vs. the superhero. I think Glass is a really good suspense drama with interesting characters and a great plot incorporating comic book mythology. While I did not hate the ending, I do wish the movie did not end the way it did; I feel like the majority of people who saw this film was hoping for a different ending. For my readers and followers I do recommend you all to check this movie out, especially if you like suspense dramas with plot twists, then Glass is the film to see.

Thanks for reading my review !
